The Dual Jammie Relay event is a multi-sport relay support event on the Recce Dual Mission route. ‘Jammie’ is the terminology used for Special Forces support personnel that are not directly involved in a mission.
|Dual Mission||~200 km||5000 m|
|Dual Jammie Relay||~50 km Trail Running / ~150 km MTB||4000 m|
Athletes can participate in the Recce Dual Mission in two categories:
- ‘Heavy’ or solo
- ‘Small Team’ of 2 people
Athletes can participate in the Dual Jammie Relay as a relay team of two, i.e. one trail runner and one mountain biker.
|Dual Mission||The trail running section will cover an off-road ultra marathon (50 km) and the MTB section will cover a 150 km by making use of tar, district, railway service, forest and farm roads, as well as Jeep, mountain and river single track.
The total elevation gain on the Dual Mission route is almost 5000 meters. It comprises of a stage on the Trail Mission route and a stage on the MTB Mission route.
The Dual Mission has several cut-offs along the route and trail runners / mountain bikers have 25 hours to complete the mission.
To complete the Recce Dual Mission, trail runners and mountain bikers need to –
– Complete the physically and mentally tough Recce Dual Mission within the allowable time
– Pass through several checkpoints (called CPs) along the routes
– Pass a number of strategic targets along the routes
Trail runners and/or mountain bikers who do not make any of the time cut-offs have failed the mission. These athletes can continue as Jammies, or they will be extracted and Returned-to-Unit (RTU).
|Dual Jammie Relay||Athletes will complete the trail ultra marathon of 50 km and the 150 km MTB leg of the Recce Dual Mission route in a 2-person relay format.
The Dual Jammie Relay route has two time cut-offs and each trail runner / mountain biker team has 25 hours to complete the event.
