Medics: Medical support is provided along the routes, including event emergency 4×4 and other vehicles equipped with satellite phones. During day-time a chopper will also be available and used for emergency evacuations. Medics would also be placed along the routes at strategic points to facilitate the rapid deployment to a casualty scene. However, Recce Mission supply lines are approximately 300 km with limited or no GSM coverage in mostly hostile terrain that is inaccessible for normal vehicles. It might take time for medics to perform a casevac.
Transport to and from Highland Gate: Participant are responsible to get to the Start at Highland Gate by themselves. Safe parking is available within the Highland Gate Golf & Trout Estate for the duration of the Recce Mission. Complementary Recce Mission shuttle service will be available from the FINISH at Fort Mission race village in Dullstroom to the START at Highland Gate from 12h00 on D-Day for vehicle collection.
Temporary Bases: The TBs will serve as resupply zones where participants can get hydration and nutrition support. Spectators and supporters will have access to selected TBs.
Check Points: Most of the check points will be manned and some might also serve as basic waterpoints.
Mechanical Support: Tiffies will be available on D-Day from 06h00 until the start of the MTB Mission for last minute emergency repairs. They will also provide mechanical support at most TBs.
MTB riders should however ensure that they have most critical spares and repair kits with them, also providing basic chain lube, tubeless plugs and chain links for emergencies free of charge. Tyres, tubeless sealant, chains and other components will be available at 3rd party service provider’ fees, payable on the spot.
Container Trucks / Trailers: These would be used to transfer ammo crates to and from the TBs.
Sweep vehicles: Sweep vehicles would be available for collecting riders and trail runners that quit the race. Due to the difficult terrain, these vehicles would only be available at TBs and certain CPs.
Traffic Control: The Recce Mission and Jammie events do not cross national or provincial roads. No marshalling takes place along the various routes – riders and trail runners must at all time obey traffic rules to ensure their own safety along the routes.
The organizers of the Recce Mission are not linked with the following services provided by independent 3rd parties. Any queries must be dealt with directly with these independent service providers.
